Irene Wan joined FowlerHoffman in 2011 as a member of the firm’s strategic planning team for the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation’s Digital Media and Learning Initiative. She is currently focusing her efforts on policy research around expanded learning opportunities.

Before joining the firm, she worked as the Program Manager for the Vasconcellos Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting participatory democracy and civic engagement. As program manager, Ms. Wan led community policy forums and workshops across the state to assist student leaders in identifying core issues and developing advocacy skills to increase students’ access to, and greater success in, higher education. The policy forums generated substantial public input during the 2009-2010 legislative review of California’s Master Plan for Higher Education.

Ms. Wan received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from the University of California, Berkeley. She previously worked as a research intern for the National Education Association and served as a Jesse M. Unruh Assembly Fellow.
